Portent of War in Mindanao…
The government’s executive branch will be plagued with resistance against awarding back ancestral domains of Muslim tribes from non-Muslim landowners predominantly settlers from Luzon and Visayas, but possibly also from the members of local tribes in affected Mindanao areas. Resistance that will have to be fueled with a huge amount of time, money, favors, pledges, promises, Judas kisses, including the moon, the stars and the sky.
This is notwithstanding that there is legal blockading, called “Judicial Activism” or “Judicial Revolution” by the Supreme Court and its Chief Justice, Reynato S. Puno, of the signing of the peace agreement. An activism that is also fueled with certain reasons we ordinary nincompoops will never be able to fathom.
And furthermore, needless to mention, there is also the now — under preparation — a host of mass mobilizations and related actions designed to both civilly and violently protest constitutional amendments or charter change, which is a pre-requisite of the implementation of the final comprehensive compact between GRP and MILF, after the MOA on ancestral domains is signed. The truth of the matter is that the same preparation is a mere repeat of past gearing up for war by the detractors of Arroyo. The GRP – MILF peace talks entirely and absolutely have nothing to do with such readying for battle.
And finally, the last but not the least of the problematic issues, is the refusal of many of the people of Muslim Mindanao to again be under a governor like Ampatuan or any other leader, for that matter, that will not serve the will of Al’lah and the constituents of ARMM in the best way possible.
In essence, due to the above argument, the likelihood is very great that war will erupt in Mindanao, and as a precaution, it would be best not to take the situation there very lightly but with utmost seriousness. It is not going to be a war of religion; it is a war of imagined survival and feigned issues; it is a war without contrition, for all the sufferings that the tribal peoples have already endured over the centuries, and this one, still and perhaps another century, then another if the pact is not sealed.
Now, the ugly part of having a war in Mindanao, is the spilling over of its cruel and bloody tentacles to Metro Manila, where we are blogging right now.
And that is just bad.
